I don’t want to say good bye…

Saturday, May 6th, 2017

The most depressing day of the week – departure day.  Marcus and I had done most of our packing the night before, so this morning we were able to enjoy what little time we had left on the boat.  We were able to check on our first boat (Turquoise Dreams) and see that she had been repaired and was ready to go later that day – with Indy and Jo on their first official BVI charter.  We spent some time visiting with our crew, and saying good bye to our fellow boat mates.

I want to go back out there….

We were picked up once again by George’s Taxi, this time, taken to the ferry dock.  Reluctantly, we purchased our ticket back to St. Thomas and boarded the ferry when it was time.  We had a some what choppy ride back to St. Thomas, where we arrived to a line of ferry’s waiting to drop off passengers.  The way the ferry terminal is set up – there’s really only enough room for two at a time – one loading passengers and one unloading passengers.  Additionally, we would have to go through Customs & Immigration, which inevitably, slows things down a bit.  Sadly, I timed it – we ended up spending just under 40 minutes floating in the Charlotte Amalie Harbor, and by the time we were tied up and ready to disembark many people were hot and grumpy – – as a lot of people needed to catch flights out of the USVI.

Not knowing what to expect of the trip, or how I would feel, Marcus and I booked a night at the Emerald Beach Resort on St. Thomas, so we could ease back into our land legs before having to fly home.  We arrived 4 horus before check in, but were able to leave our bags with the bell desk and head out to the pool.  We spent the afternoon lounging at the pool, enjoyed lunch at the tiki bar and spent the late afternoon floating in the ocean, visiting with fellow Tradewinds guests who had the same idea.  We didn’t get out of the water until the sun had set.

We kicked around the idea of heading into Frenchtown for dinner, but ultimately decided neither one of us was all that hungry.  We didn’t want to waste the money or the food, so we settled on drinks and snacks at the tiki bar for dinner.
