St. Thomas, 2016 -Resort Gravity

As per our usual this trip, we were up early and out on the balcony to watch the sun rise.  I checked some email, Marcus did some homework and we spent the morning just relaxing on the balcony.  The longer we sat there the worse the weather looked.  After a quick look at the radar, we realized that it may be wise to stay close to home for the day.  We hadn’t really had a true gravity day yet – so we decided that staying put was just what we needed.

The radar, sadly, did not lie.  It rained off and on all morning, so we spent the day bouncing  back and forth between the beach and an absolutely perfect hammock.  I finished off my second book of the trip, enjoyed the sun (when it eventually came out), sand and sea.

For dinner tonight, we decided we should go out for a decent meal.  We headed in to Red Hook for dinner.  We were really torn between Molly Malone’s and Fish Tails.  Since that $75.00 Gift Card was burning a hole in our pockets we decided to spring for Fish Tails.  In the past, this has always been a highlight of our trips.  Food has always been good and service has always been great.  This night our experience was none of the above.  Marcus ordered a steam pot which included crab, muscles, sausage, shrimp and some sides.  His dinner came out almost a half hour before my coconut shrimp.  Dinner and a couple of cocktails was $$$.  Luckily, and without complaining or asking, my meal was taken off of our check.  Believe it or not, after that adjustment, our bill was $75.00 on the nose.  Must have been meant to be.

We had prearranged with our cab driver to pick us up in Red Hook 3 hours after dropping us off.  Mr. Nice Guy (that is his business name) arrived on time to pick up the two of us, and the other two couples that were staying at our hotel.  One of the things I love about this island is that you never know where you’ll end up, or who you might meet.  Mr. Nice Guy had gotten a call from his wife asking him to stop for milk on the way home.  He pulled into the grocery store with us right there in the van.  Naturally, we all found this both amusing and charming.  🙂  #islandlife  Mr. Nice Guy joined us back in the cab, two gallons of milk in hand.  We spent the ride back to the hotel talking about his family, how expensive it is to feed growing kids on the island, logistics of how groceries are brought in and from where, etc.

We were back at our room a short time later, did a quick gathering up of all of our belongings and headed to bed.  Tomorrow would be our last morning on island before we have to head back to reality.  Though we had our room for one more day – it was the airfare that had us going home on Friday, instead of Saturday.
