St. Thomas, 2016 -Why do we have to go home?

Every vacation there’s always one terrible, horrible, awful, no good day – departure day.  The very fist time we went to the Virgin Islands, I literally cried the day we had to leave.  I cried again, my first day back at work.  I do not like going home.  My heart belongs in the VI – it has since my first trip and it’s still there.  🙂  We had gathered most of our belongings the night before, so that meant that packing this morning should be pretty easy.  Since we were up early again, we went straight to the beach.  One must soak up as much sun, sand and sea as humanly possible!  This morning was pretty much a repeat of yesterday morning – time in the hammock, on the beach, in the water, etc.

Unfortunately, the time arrived when we couldn’t drag it out anymore and we had to accept the fact that this wouldn’t be the time we could say screw it – and stay forever.  Back to the room, packed the final few belongings and headed down for one last lunch poolside.  We checked out called for a cab.

We were dropped off at the airport 2 hours before our delta flight – boarding passes already in hand, carry on bags in tow – and it’s a really good thing!  Lines for customs baggage check were ridiculously long!  Customs actually stopped moving when we got in line, due to the back up.  Luckily for us – those that were traveling with carry on only were able to get through Customs and skip the crazy long baggage line straight to TSA.

We arrived at our age about an hour before our flight was scheduled to board.  Wondered around the duty free shops in the airport while hubby snoozed away.  🙂

Flight boarded on time.  In the air on schedule.  Connection through ATL was a breeze – landed in CLE early – and then waited, and waited for the ground crew to get us situated.  We had once again been given the chance to courtesy check our bags in STT, so we had to wait in baggage claim.  Eventually, bags in hand we were off to the car and headed for the 3 hour drive home.  Uneventful drive home and we’re counting the days down to our next trip…363 days.
