St. Maarten – Day 7

Wednesday, December 23rd

We were up early at Sonesta, and had some coffee & soda on our balcony while we watched a ship cruise past, and a few planes come in.

We headed down for breakfast around 9am.  Breakfast buffet per the all-inclusive, good selection of food – if you couldn’t find something to eat, I would have no sympathy for you.  Filled up on breakfast and headed back to the room to pack up and check out.  Check out was smooth and easy.  We walked around Maho before heading back to the car – still nothing worth spending any cash on.  We decided to head into Phillipsburg.  We needed to finish up some Christmas shopping and pick up the obligatory souvenirs.  A few days ago, we discovered the parking lot at Bobby’s Marina.  At $1.00 per hour, right off the pier – it was easy to get in and out of and the rental car was in a gated lot.  We walked down front street, meandered in and out of a few different shops.  Picked up some things for ourselves and some things for others.

We were still full from breakfast, so we didn’t stop for lunch.  When we were done with our shopping we decided to walk back to the car along the boardwalk.

Back to the room to drop off our purchases.  We were scheduled to go on the Tango for a dinner cruise tonight, but we had a few hours before we needed to leave.  We spent those few hours at one of the pools here at our resort.  In for a shower around 3:00pm and in a taxi headed to Simpson Bay Resort & Marina by 3:45pm.

We really enjoyed our night on the Tango.  The crew was every attentive and engaging.  Always passing around snacks and drinks.  We sailed up the coast, headed towards La Samana.  Marcus volunteered to help raise the sail, and after that we were able to sit at a table for two set up on the front of the boat.  Past Simpson, Maho, Mullet & Cupecoy Bay’s and anchored just off the coast from La Saman resort.  Dinner was a delicious French Caribbean dinner – every single thing was delicious!  We really haven’t had a bad meal this trip.  After dinner was over we motored back to the Marina with Calypso Christmas music playing.  It was a perfect night!

Thursday’s agenda – Anguilla on Sugar Rush.
